Jute is an extremely versatile fibre known for its strength and durability. The fibre has a natural colour in light tan to brown range and can also be dyed to any required shade. The Jute plant is generally 6 to 12 feet in length and the fibres are extracted from the plant through several stages such as retting, stripping, washing, drying and bailing. During the retting process the tissue which surrounds the jute fibre is softened. This allows the fibres to be separates readily when the stripping process is carried out. The stripped fibres are made up into bundles, washed and then dried for a couple of days. The fibres are then sorted and graded. Various grades of Jute are used according to their quality and individual properties. Jute is totally biodegradable and eco-friendly. A wide range of bags such as Shopping bags, Promotional bags, Wine bags and also Composting bags can be made from jute.
